WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's Hudson, Mass. native Ben Palatino has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) baseball player of the week for his offense in a 2-3 week for the Lancers.
The sophomore first baseman batted .667 (12-18) with two doubles, a home run, two RBI, two stolen bases and nine runs scored with a .944 slugging percentage and a .700 on base percentage this past week in Florida play.
He went 3-for-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in the 18-8 win over Bard College. Palatino then went 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI and three runs scored in the 12-8 win over St. Olaf College and 4-for-6 with a run scored and a stolen base in the doubleheader setback to Grinnell College.
He is currently leading his team in batting average (.337) runs (13), hits (20), and stolen base (6).
The baseball team resumes play tomorrow (Mar. 27) against Rhode Island College at the New England Baseball Complex (NEBC) in Northboro, Mass. at 6 p.m.
