Melissa Beshire enters her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Lancers softball team.
This past year, Coach Beshire helped her team to their second-consecutive MASCAC regular season championship and also guided the team to the MASCAC Tournament Championship, in turn, receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Regional Tournament for Worcester State’s second-ever appearance.
During the 2015 season, she helped lead the Blue and Gold to the MASCAC Regular Season title, an 11-3 mark against conference opponents and the top seed in the league tournament. In 2014, she helped the Lancers reach the MASCAC Tournament Semifinals for the second straight year. In 2013, WSU had a 20-win season and made an appearance in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament Championship game as the seventh seed.
Coach Beshire was a standout hitter at Holy Cross as she was named to the All-Patriot League Second-team during the 2004 campaign. Beshire started at catcher for her first two seasons before patrolling left field for her final two years with the Crusaders.
During her senior year, Coach Beshire led the squad in runs, was second on the team in doubles as she was also third in batting average (.320) and base-knocks.
