Women's Volleyball Defeats Bay Path, 3-0
Holyoke, MA --- Worcester State defeated Bay Path on the road in straight sets, 25-10, 25-19 and 25-16. Junior Becky Lebel led the charge with eight kills and nine digs as sophomore Vicki O'Brien tallied 16 digs as freshman Alyssa Jasper and Robyn Linscott combined for 13 kills.
Holyoke, MA --- The Lancers of Worcester State break up a match winning streak for the Wildcats defeating Bay Path 3-0 tonight at the Bartley Center in regional women's volleyball action. Worcester State took all three games 25-10, 25-19 and 25-16.
Worcester State junior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) led all hitters on the night with eight kills and a .438 attack percentage. She also added one service aces and nine digs for the match high nine points. Defensively sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) topped all players with 16 digs. O'Brien also finished with two service aces.
Coming off the bench, freshman Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) finished with 24 assists and four digs. Starting Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) played the first set tallying ten assists and .500 attack percentage with two kills. Two Lancers combined for 13 kills including freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) and junior right side hitter Robyn Linscott (Weymouth, MA). Linscott had no errors for the match hitting a sizzling .462 attack percentage.
Senior middle blocker Nadine Harkless (Westfield, MA) led the Wildcats with six kills, 13 digs and two block solos. Junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, MA) finished with nine assists.
Bay Path is now 5-6 overall while Worcester State evens out to 6-6 on the season.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, September 24th facing NECC rival Becker along with Mass. Maritime in a tri-match hosted by the Hawks with the first match starting at 11:00 AM. Worcester State takes on Newbury on Thursday at 7 PM on Thursday.
