Lewiston, ME --- Junior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) finished the heptathlon in fifth for All-New England accolades with a school-record total of 4488 points at the Division III New England Championships at Bates on Saturday afternoon.
Sliwoski was 412 points off of heptathlon champion Michael Blair (Wellesley, MA) of Tufts and he is ranked 25th in the latest NCAA Division III national rankings. The top 12 spots are selected to compete at the national indoor meet in three weeks.
On the first day of competition, Sliwoski posted the best shot put for a personal record (41-09.25/12.73m) while his 60 meter time tied for the second highest split (7.40). His long jump was fifth (20-4.25/6.20m) before he wrapped up with a leap of 1.69 meters in the high jump (5-6.50).
On Saturday, Sliwoski started things off clearing the best height in the pole vault (13-3.50) for a personal best as he also placed sixth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.33) and ended the competition with a time of 3:04.60 in the 1,000.
Sliwoski reset the school mark by 10 points which had been previously held by current associate head coach and former All-New England mult-event standout Matt Swett. Swett had set the school record at Coast Guard during the 2005-06 campaign.
