WESTFIELD, Mass. - Two Worcester State University student-athletes have received weekly awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, brought to you by GEICO. The announcements came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Junior Eddy Boamah (Worcester, Mass.) was named the MASCAC men’s indoor track & field Track Athlete of the Week, while freshman Brian Smith (Dracut, Mass.) was named the MASCAC men’s ice hockey Rookie of the Week. Both players receive the respective honors for the first time this season.

Smith tallied a goal and an assist in a MASCAC win over Framingham State last Thursday, his first two collegiate points. For his efforts in the victory, Smith was named the game’s number two star.
Boamah’s indoor track & field team will be back in action on Saturday at the Smith Pioneers Invitational, while Smith’s men’s ice hockey squad travels to Anna Maria for a Thursday evening showdown with the AMCats.
