PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.), a freshman on the Worcester State University field hockey team, has been named both the Little East Conference Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week this week. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Hopkins was named the LEC Goalkeeper of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after going 3-0 with a 0.34 goals against average and .917 save percentage for the Lancers last week. She totaled seven saves over a pair of 2-0 non-conference victories over Mount Holyoke and Clark, and capped the week with a four-save effort in a 4-1 win over Plymouth State.
Hopkins is now 13-6 this season with a 1.76 goals against average and .701 save percentage. Her goals against average is second-best in the LEC this season.
Hopkins and the fourth-seeded Lancers will begin their bid at a Little East Conference crown on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. as they take on #5 Western Connecticut State.
