Weeks Tabbed ECAC Division III New England Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has tabbed Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) the Corvias ECAC Division III New England Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 24.

Weeks posted a first-place finish in the shot put event with a distance of 14.45m (47-05.00) at the Springfield College Maroon & White Classic this past weekend.

The junior also finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 15.51m (50-10.75), qualifying for both Division III New England and ECAC Championships.

“Sam has progressed quickly despite coming of a hand injury sustained during football season,” stated head coach Al Halper. “This is already a personal record (PR) for him.”

In addition to this week’s ECAC honors, Weeks has been awarded the MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week twice, and has qualified for ECAC’s in both shot put and weight throw events thus far this season.

““Each week Sam has shown improvements and continues to be one of the top throwers in the conference,” commented Halper.
