Worcester, MA --- On Tuesday, July 29, 2014, the Worcester State baseball team and Team Taiwan will be hosting a free clinic from 1-3 PM at the Kevin Lyons Baseball Diamond for kids ages 14 and under.
The clinic is one of the events that the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA), the official name of Team Tiawan, will be participating during their two-day stay in the City of Worcester. Following the clinic, the CTBA will head to Fitton Field to play in an exhibition game against the New England Elite All-Star team.
"The clinic is free opportunity for kids and young adults who love baseball to learn tips and lessons from both local and international athletes," said Worcester State Director of Athletics Michael Mudd. "The team's visit to Worcester demonstrates how remarkably the game of baseball serves to bring the community together in so many ways."
CBTC's visit to the area is part of a new Worcester Bravehearts initiative, the Worcester Baseball World Series, to welcome international teams to the area. On Monday, July 28, the Bravehearts will host an evening exhibition contest against the CBTA at 7:05 PM.
The Kevin Lyons Baseball Diamond is located at Rockwood Park next to Coughlin Field, which is just off of Worcester State's campus.
Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own glove, bats, helmets and water bottles. A waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian at drop off in order to participate in the clinic.
