Worcester, MA- Worcester State Baseball continues to make its mark around all facets of the diamond, as Lancer's standout Xavier Quezada '25 has accepted a position with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization as a Minor League Player Development Associate.
"This is incredible news for Xavier, he went through four to five interviews to secure this position, and it is very difficult for someone so young to land a professional baseball job" shared Worcester State Baseball Head Coach Phil Price. "While his role within our team culture will be hard to replace, I am extremely proud of him. He has made the entire WSU community proud."
During his time at Worcester State, Quezada was known for his consistent work ethic and baseball IQ, serving as a reliable presence within the program. His attention to detail and passion for learning the game extended beyond competition. He was a four member of the Lancers baseball team where he was a captain and leader on and off the field. He played in 91 games with 247 at bats. In his time with Worcester State he recorded 41 runs, with 24 RBIs and 60 hits. He graduated this past May with a major in Public Health and a minor in Psychology, while also serving as a member of SAAC, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
"I couldn't be happier for X! He has a true passion for the game of baseball. He is a high character young man who has always had an incredible work ethic, with very strong leadership abilities, skills that are necessary for him to flourish in this role" praised Worcester State Athletic Director Michael Mudd. "That fact that he will be employed by arguably the top organization in Major League Baseball right now makes the opportunity that much more rewarding."
In his new role, Quezada will be heavily involved on the video and technology side of player development, serving as a key resource in handling the tools and systems used throughout the organization. He will oversee much of the technology infrastructure, ensuring that players and coaches have seamless access to video and performance data that drive daily development and long-term growth.
While video and data will be central to his responsibilities, Quezada will also gain hands-on, on-field coaching experience throughout the year. His role will allow him to float between position groups, working directly with infielders, hitters, and other units as needed, providing him with a well-rounded view of professional player development within one of baseball's premier organizations.
Quezada's journey with the Dodgers will take him across the globe. He departs for Arizona in early January, where he will be based throughout Spring Training. Following camp, he will head to the Dominican Republic, working with the Dodgers' Dominican Summer League team through September. He will then return to Arizona in October to help wrap up the season during the Arizona Fall League.
"I'm very excited to accept the position with such a world class organization. I'm truly appreciative of my time spent at Worcester State" states Quezada. "The lessons learned and connections made are the only thing that made earning this opportunity possible. I cannot wait to get out there and represent the University and the baseball program."
This opportunity marks a significant milestone for Quezada and reflects the growing presence of Worcester State alumni within professional and semiprofessional baseball. His transition from the Lancers' program to a vital role in the Dodgers' player development system underscores both his passion to and for the game, and the strong foundation built during his time with Worcester State.
