Tom Szalno Selected ECAC/NEFC Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Worcester, MA --- Worcester State College junior defensive back Tom Szalno has been named both Co-New England Football Conference (NEFC) and ECAC Northeast Player of the Weekafter he blocked three extra points in a 32-31 victory this past weekend over Maine Maritime Academy. He was also named to the d3football.com Team of the Week as a special teams standout.

Worcester, MA --- Worcester State College junior defensive back Tom Szalno (Hyde Park, MA) has been named both Co-New England Football Conference (NEFC) and ECAC Northeast Player of the Weekafter he blocked three extra points in a 32-31 victory this past weekend over Maine Maritime Academy. He was also named to the d3football.com Team of the Week as a special teams standout.
Szalno notched a blocked kick on the Mariners go-ahead touchdown in the first quarter (13-7) and then rejected their attempts in the third and fourth quarter, respectively. Szalno also finished the contest with four tackles (three solo) and a pass deflection as he helped hold Maine Maritime to just seven yards passing.
Szalno is currently tied for sixth on the team in tackles while he also has three pass deflections this season as a cornerback.
Worcester State is back in action this Saturday in a key NEFC confrontation against regional rival Fitchburg State. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 at Fitchburg.
