2013 Football Headlines
Worcester, MA --- On Tuesday, July 31, the Worcester State University football squad partnered with the Elm Park Ministries Day Camp to provide a morning of activities for 50 local children from around the local Worcester Community at Institute Park. Through three morning sessions, ten football student-athletes taught the basics of tackling, running, catching and teamwork.
Westfield, MA --- Worcester State football seniors Kyle Morris and Adam Straughn underscored 15 honorees on the MASCAC Fall All-Academic Team as announced by conference publicist Emily Deikelmann.
Salem, VA --- Senior AJ Scerra wrapped up his outstanding collegiate career this past Friday by participating in the 2013 Division III North/South Senior Classic at Salem Football Stadium. Scerra becomes the fourth WSU student-athlete in the last four seasons to participate in a senior all-star showcase.
Worcester, MA --- The Worcester Area Football Association has announced the 23rd Annual Steve “Merc” Morris All-Star team as selected by the area Sports Information Directors.
Minneapolis, MN --- Junior Casey Hippert has been named to the D3football.com All-East Region Second-team after a ballot by regional sports information directors and website staff. Hippert becomes the fifth WSU football student-athlete in the last six years to be recognized by the national website.
Westfield, MA --- Junior teammates Bryan Narcisse and Casey Hippert along with senior AJ Scerra were all named to the All-MASCAC football team in a vote by the leagues nine head coaches as announced by league publicist Emily Diekelmann.
Worcester, MA --- Framingham State rolled to a 36-0 victory over Worcester State in MASCAC football action this afternoon at Coughlin Field. Senior Adam Straughn paced the team defensively with 13 unassisted tackles - including five tackles for a loss.
Worcester, MA --- Westfield State used a solid defensive approach and a balanced offensive attack to defeat Worcester State, 38-20. Senior AJ Scerra led the Lancers with six catches for 68 yards and two scores to become WSU's all-time receiving touchdown leader.
Plymouth, NH --- Plymouth State defeated Worcester State 34-31 on Saturday afternoon in MASCAC football action. Junior Jack Sprague led the effort offensively with nine catches for 113 yards and two scores while classmate Pat Viencek tied a school record with five touchdown passes.
Minneapolis, MN --- For the second time this season, junior Casey Hippert has been honored on the D3football.com Team of the Week as a tight end. Hippert hauled in a career-best nine receptions for 163 yards and an 81 yard touchdown in their setback against Western Connecticut.
Worcester, MA --- Worcester State was bested 55-35 by Western Connecticut in MASCAC football action this evening. Junior Dana Valentine had a trio of rushes for scores and classmate Casey Hippert chipped in with game highs of nine receptions for 163 yards.
North Dartmouth, MA --- UMass Dartmouth edged Worcester State, 34-33, in MASCAC football action this afternoon at Cressy Field. The Lancers were paced by two 100-yard receiving games by senior AJ Scerra and junior Casey Hippert.
Fitchburg, MA --- Worcester State was defeated by Fitchburg State, 37-7, in MASCAC football action this afternoon by a solid effort by the Falcons offensively. Junior Casey Hippert was the standout for the Lancers with five receptions for 73 yards and the lone touchdown.

Worcster, MA --- Earlier this season, forced to the sideline with a high ankle sprain, Kevin Bumpus watched as his backup, Pat Viencek, threw the go-ahead touchdown pass with 37 seconds remaining to lift the Worcester State football team to a thrilling 15-14 victory over city rival WPI.
Worcester, MA --- Worcester State senior receiver AJ Scerra of Marlboro cramped up in the fourth quarter of the Lancers' epic clash with Mass. Maritime last Saturday and was sitting on the bench when teammate Kevin Bumpus threw the winning touchdown pass to Arron Witkus.
