WESTFIELD, Mass. - Worcester State University football freshman Josh Obisui (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. The announcement came from the conference office on Sunday afternoon.
Obisui made a play that most defensive lineman dream about late in the first half of Worcester State's Saturday contest against Western Connecticut. The freshman got to the Colonial quarterback, forced a fumble, scooped up the loose ball, and marched it into the end zone for a touchdown. The sack was one of Obisui's three tackles in the game.
Obisui is the second Lancer to receive MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors in the past three weeks, as he joins wide receiver Cam Kergo (Mashpee, Mass.), who received the award on September 15.
The Lancers will be back in action on Saturday with a road contest at Mass. Maritime. Kickoff from Buzzards Bay is slated for 12 p.m.
