Football Place Seventh in Preseason Poll
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State University Football Team finished seventh in the preseason poll, as released Tuesday by the conference.
The Lancers finished the 2021 season at 3-7 in Coach Adam Peloquin’s second year. The Lancers squad aim to improve upon last season with the help of an experienced squad, headed by returning Junior Ke’Vaughn Davis, MASCAC First Team All-Conference Selection, and a wealth of newcomers to the team. Davis led the MASCAC with 13 receiving touchdowns, 70 receptions and 1,132 receiving yards. He had four more receiving touchdowns than the next closest player in the conference, was the leader in catches by 14 receptions, and led in receiving yards by 368. The Lancers concluded their season with three wins.
Framingham State leads the preseason ranking with 61 points and 5 first place votes. Just two points behind is UMass Dartmouth with 59 points and the last of the first-place votes. The remaining teams ahead of Worcester are Bridgewater, Western Conn, Mass Maritime and Plymouth. Worcester State pulled in 22 points and sits ahead of Westfield and Fitchburg.
Worcester State will start their season on September 2 at home where they square off against WPI on Coughlin Field at 7pm.
