Westfield, MA — A total of 1,610 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Fall/Winter 2024 All-Academic team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.
WORCESTER, MA – The Worcester State University Athletics Department is proud to announce Lazaro Mitjans Jr. as the next head coach of the Lancers football program. A dynamic young coach with experience coaching across multiple levels in Massachusetts and New England, Mitjans brings a fresh perspective, energy, and a proven track record of developing student-athletes to Worcester State.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – 60 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2024 Fall Sportsmanship Team.
Worcester, MA- Worcester State Football had one named to the MASCAC All-Conference team voted on by the conference coaches at the end of the season. Senior John McMasters III (Raynham, MA) was selected to the All-Conference second team. McMasters ended the season with 60 solo tackles, 46 assisted for 106 total and two interceptions on the season as a linebackers.
Worcester, MA- In the final game of the regular season the Worcester State Football team (3-6, 3-5) journeys to Framingham State to take on the Rams as they look to grab their fourth win of the season and the season on a victorious note.

Maritime Buccaneers in a bid to get to .500 in the conference, but will also be honoring this year’s senior class. Worcester, MA- After defeating Castleton in resounding fashion on Saturday 31-6, first year Manuel Freitas (Dartmouth, MA) has been picked as this week’s MASCAC Special Team Player of the Week.
Worcester, MA- The Lancer’s Football squad (2-5, 2-4) look to bounce back after a stretch of top notch opponents this afternoon with a trip to Castleton. Worcester is ready to get back to their winning ways versus the Spartans who recently struggled against Plymouth State and Fitchburg State, which were two big wins for Worcester on the year, so the stage looks set for a gridiron battle in Vermont.
Worcester, MA- Looking to add another win to their tally the Lancer football squad (2-4, 2-3) journey to WestConn this evening to face off with the Wolves in a conference showdown. Both sides of the ball are prepped for a gridiron battle in the Saturday night meeting.
Worcester, MA- After a bye week of rest and planning the Worcester State Football team (2-3, 2-2) are back on home turn as they prepare to take on regionally ranked UMass-Dartmouth during this years Rosen Awareness Pink Out Game, which will see the Lancers wearing Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund stickers on their helmets to help raise awareness for research, testing and symptoms. Donations are actively being collected to support the campaign.
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Football team (2-2, 2-1) look to bounce back from their first conference defeat last week versus Westfield State that saw the game go down to the final play in Worcster’s homecoming meeting with the Owls. They team is fueled from that close finish and looking to add another win to their column in their afternoon meeting with the Bridgewater State Bears.
Worcester, MA- The Lancer football team (2-1, 2-0) aims to remain undefeated in conference play today as they welcome Westfield State to the John Coughlin field in this year's annual homecoming showdown. Worcester most recently took down Fitchburg State last Saturday in a rainy and soggy battle and will look to the brighter skies today to use all their facets of their team to come away with the victory.
Worcester, MA- After a come from behind victory on a wet and slippery Saturday, the Worcester State Football team has been awarded their first MASCAC Player of the Week in senior Nico Holmes (Mansfield, MA). The Lancers defeated Fitchburg State on Saturday 20-14 to claim their second straight victory and to move to 2-0 in MASCAC play.
Worcester, MA- The Lancer football team (1-1, 1-0) travels for their first road trip of the season this afternoon as they make the quick trip north to Fitchburg State as they look to continue their success in conference play with their second straight win of the season.
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Football team (0-1,0-0) kicks off MASCAC action this afternoon as they host Plymouth State in the conference opener. This is the season opener for the Panthers while the Lancers come in with one seasoned game under their belt, after taking a tight loss to WPI 14-9 last Friday to open up their season. Worcester will look to continue their defensive strength this week and open the conference play with a defining presence.
Worcester, MA- In what has become an annual tradition for Worcester State Football, the team kicks off their season tonight with a matchup with Cross Town non-Conference Rivals WPI under the lights of Coughlin Field. WPI came away with the victory last season, but under the new leadership of Coach Zach Besaw, the Lancers aim to open up their season at home with a victory against their lone non-conference opponent of the season.
