Lancers Claim Eighth in MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll
Worcester, MA- The Lancer Football team was selected eighth in the MASCAC Preseason 2025 Coaches Poll as selected by the conference coaches. Worcester State ended the season last year with a 3-7 record on the season. This year the squad will be led by first time Head Coach, and one of the youngest in DIII, in Lazaro Mitjans Jr. with their first game scheduled for September 13th at Plymouth State.

UMass-Dartmouth leads the conference with 81 points and nine first place votes with Bridgewater State sitting in second with 68 points and the last first place vote. Mass. Maritime claimed third with 56 points with one of the two conference newcomers, Anna Maria in fourth with 54 points.
Plymouth State claimed fifth with 47 points just a single point ahead of Framingham State with 46 points. Westfield State took home seventh with 38 points. Worcester State, in eighth, would record 29 points. Returning for the Lancers is quarterback Cam Ayotte who threw for 1,689 yards with 11 touchdowns, a 57.2 completion percentage, 131.7 pass efficiency and 123 completions.
The final two spots would go to Fitchburg State with 17 points and the last newcomer to the MASCAC conference, Dean with 14 points.
Nine of the 10 MASCAC football teams begin their 2025 season the weekend of September 5-6 with non-conference play while league play kicks off September 13.
