Pothier Named Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Holy Cross
Worcester, MA --- After three years as the Head Coach of the Worcester State field hockey team, Chris Pothier will move on to become the Assistant Field Hockey Coach for the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders.
Worcester, MA --- After three years as the Head Coach of the Worcester State field hockey team, Chris Pothier will move on to become the Assistant Field Hockey Coach for the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders.
Under his leadership, the Lancers went 12-9 overall and captured its first ever ECAC Division III Tournament win. With a 2-1 overtime victory over Smith, they advanced to the semifinals in the 2013 season.
With Pothier as head coach, the field hockey team also broke program records for goals, assists and points. The Blue and Gold also made consecutive appearances in the Little East Tournament, which included a 10-9 mark last year.
"We are happy that Chris Pothier has earned this opportunity to become a full-time Assistant Coach at the Division 1 level. Chris is an outstanding coach that we were fortunate to have develop our student-athletes on and off the field of play for the past three years," said Michael Mudd, Worcester State Director of Athletics.
Prior to Worcester State, Coach Pothier served as the top assistant at Elms College and was a grad student at Springfield College. As a Graduate Assistant Coach, he helped guide Springfield to the NEWMAC Tournament Semifinals.
Coach Pothier played on the USA Men's National Field Hockey junior team from 2004-05 before earning a spot on the senior indoor and outdoor teams for their 2005-06 season.
Since 2006, Coach Pothier has served as the director and owner of the Cape Ann Coalition, a Premier Field Hockey Club of New England. He is involved with a wide range of participants from intermediate level to national quality athletes.

The search for Chris' replacement will begin immediately.
