DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) scored two goals to lead the Lancers to a 2-0 shutout over the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Tuesday (Sep. 20) evening at Cressy Field in a Little East Conference (LEC) matchup.

Despite the Worcester State win, the Corsairs outshot the Lancers 22-8 and held the advantage in penalty corners 14-5.

Worcester state's junior goalkeeper, Kathryn Salemme (Acton, Mass.) faced 10 shots on goal saved all for a perfect 1.000 save percentage on the evening. This marks her first shutout on the season and sixth career.

Worcester State's first goal came in the 34^th minute on a breakaway pass from senior forward Morgan Cooper (Fitchburg, Mass.), her second assist this season. Cooper sprung Parent from the Corsairs' back line as she broke free to bury the ball in the bottom left corner of the cage.

Following the intermission, Parent came out fierce and looking for another opportunity. Just two minutes into the second half, she tallied another goal on, yet, another breakaway, as she sped away from the Corsairs' defense to pot her second goal of the game at the 37-minute marker.

The Lancers shutout the opponents for the remaining 33 minutes of play, and came away with the 2-0 conference victory.

With the win, the Lancers advance to 4-3 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0. The Corsairs suffer the loss and slip to 2-5 on the season (1-3 LEC).

Next up, Worcester State hosts Anna Maria Thursday (Sep. 24) night under the lights at John Coughlin Stadium, before returning to LEC play on Saturday (Sep. 26) when they travel to Eastern Connecticut.
