How It Happened:
Worcester came out looking for double revenge in two close games this season and started in typical fashion versus the Bears, a goal in the first four minutes of action. First year Katelyn Swistak (Brookfield, MA) would collect the rebound from a senior Charlotte MacGregor (Bellingham, MA) attempt, and clip the shot back in for the 1-0 lead.
The next quarter would be a midfield battle as each team looked to gain a more solid handle on the action but were unable to make any dents. Worcester would hold the offensive edge, outshooting the Bears 5-1 in the action.
The third would see an expected Bridgewater response as they equalized the game had way through the third. Worcester would remain on the attack through the rest of regulation but even with the overall shot edge of 23-8, the game would remain tied at 1-1 and move to overtime action.
It would take 11 minutes of extra time before the golden goal of the Lancers was secured off a corner feed by senior Maggie Nailor (Dartmouth, MA) to Swistak who hammered a shot towards cage for MacGregor to connect with a piece of and sending it flying into the cage for the victory.
What's Next:
Worcester will now head to Westfield State for a 12pm MASCAC Championship meeting with the Owls in what has become an expected meeting in MASCAC playoff play.
