How it Happened:
The Lancers entered a matchup against a very tough Connecticut College team in their second NESCAC meeting of the year. The Camels controlled the first half with a dominant offensive showing by scoring multiple three pointers early on to put the immediate pressure on the Lancers. Worcester State stayed in the game with big shots by senior Johnny Annan (Worcester, MA) and sophomore Rayan Sablon (Stoughton, MA), but Connecticut continued to respond every time the Lancers grabbed some slight momentum. Connecticut used this rapid response to wrap up the first half with a 54-36 lead.
The second half would find Worcester finding the secret code, outsourcing the Camels in the period and cutting into the Connecticut College lead. Aggressive play and quick passing were the keys to success along with a 60% field goal percentage, upping the average from the first half. Connecticut would manage to hold off the surge from Worcester and keep them at arms length, hitting some clutch threes and forcing turnovers that killed the clock on Worcester. Annan would close out the night with 27 points while Sablon would claim six rebounds.
What's Next:
Worcester State (1-7, 0-0) takes no breather before they return to Brissette Court, hosting Gordon College tomorrow night at 6pm.
