SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's golf team held steady in 10th place as the Lancers took part in round two of the Elms Invitational Monday at Ledges Golf Course. The Lancers shot a team score of 342 on the day to round out the tournament at 679.
Senior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) had the top Lancer round for the second consecutive day, shooting a seven-over 79 to finish with a weekend score of 156.
Eerily similar to round one, the remaining four Lancers were all separated by just three shots. Freshman Matt Thurston (Lunenburg, Mass.) carded an 87 on the day to lead the bunch, while seniors Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Zack Grenon (Uxbridge, Mass.) each turned in scores of 88. Sophomore Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) rounded out the scores with an 89.
Worcester State will begin preparations for the MASCAC Championships, scheduled to be played this weekend at Wachusett Country Club.
