Barros Tabbed Co-MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Westfield, MA --- Sophomore Jarred Barros has been named Co-MASCAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance this past weekend at the John Terrier Boston University Invitational.
Westfield, MA --- Sophomore Jared Barros (Taunton, MA) has been named Co-MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance this past weekend at the John Terrier Boston University Invitational.
Barros was the top Division III finisher with 16th overall in the 200 meters (21.81) and 17th in the 60 meters (7.00) before he ended the meet by running a hand-time split of 49.50 on the lead off leg of the 38th place 4x400 meter relay (3:25.65).
As of this morning, Barros' converted 200 split of 22.20 from BU's banked track is currently second in the NCAA Division III rankings and his season-best 60 time at the Dartmouth Relays on January 11 is ninth overall (6.96).
Impressively, the Lancers who are ranked 17th in the latest USTFCCCA Top 25 Composite Index, have two student-athletes with four times in the top 10 which include the top 60 meter hurdle time (8.01) by senior Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) and Gibson is also tied for 5th in the 60 (6.93).
The MASCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week accolade the Barros is his first of the season and second of his career after he claimed the honor during the inaugural week of the outdoor campaign on March 25, 2014 for his solid efforts at the Bridgewater State Invitational.
Worcester State will head to Tufts this coming weekend as a warm-up to the MASCAC/Alliance Championships on February 14.
