Women Selected Third, Men Fourth in MASCAC Preseason Indoor Track and Field Coaches Poll
Westfield, Mass.— Bridgewater State men and Westfield State women have been picked by the coaches around the conference to claim the 2024-25 MASCAC Indoor Track and Field titles.
Westfield, Mass.— Bridgewater State men and Westfield State women have been picked by the coaches around the conference to claim the 2024-25 MASCAC Indoor Track and Field titles.
Bridgewater State had the top spot in this year's poll. Returning for his final indoor season is Kevin McBirney. Last season, he earned All-American second team honors last March by finishing 16th at the NCAA Division III Championships with a time of 1:56.02 in the 800-meter run.
Tying for second is Fitchburg State and Westfield State. For the Falcons, Liam Bourassa is back after he set personal records in both the weight throw and shot put last season. His top throw in weight was 16.54m while in shot, he threw 15.33m.
During the 2024-25 campaign for the Owls, Ali Warsame grabbed All-USTFCCCA New England honors, finishing in the top five of the region with season bests of 6.93 meters in the long jump and 13.71 meters in the triple jump.
Rounding out the men's poll is Worcester State. For the Lancers, Seth Boudreau, in his only indoor meet last season, finished fourth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.14 and 10th in the long jump with a top leap of 5.83m at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational.
On the women's side, Westfield State looks to add another indoor trophy to their case. Last season, Eliza Lee earned All-Region honors with a top triple jump leap of 11.48m, which was the 30th best distance in Division III.
Bridgewater State is up next in second. Wrapping up her Bears career this indoor season, Serenity Sands looks to book a ticket to Nationals after she finished eighth in the high jump with a top clearing of 1.68m to earn All American honors.
Worcester State comes in third in this year's poll. Jadah Stokes looks to improve on her top marks from the 2024- 25 season where she threw a season-best distance in the weight throw of 14.04m and 12.37m in the shot put.
Closing out the women's poll is Fitchburg State. After taking last season off, Makany Camara looks to return for the Falcons after she finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.03 and sixth in the 200 meter run in 28.50 during the 2023-24 MASCAC Indoor Championship.
The indoor season begins on Saturday, December 6 when Bridgewater State and Worcester State compete at the Suffolk Relays while Fitchburg State and Westfield State head to Springfield College for their invitational.
