Mahoney Named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior lefthander Michaella Mahoney has been selected the MASCAC's inaugural Softball Pitcher of the Week for helping lead the Lancers to a 7-3 start in Florida. For Mahoney this is her fourth career weekly honor in her three years at WSU.
Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior lefthander Michaella Mahoney (Shrewsbury, MA) has been selected the MASCAC's inaugural Softball Pitcher of the Week for helping lead the Lancers to a 7-3 start in Florida. For Mahoney this is her fourth career weekly honor in her three-years at WSU.
Mahoney posted a 3-0 record with a 0.66 earned run average with 21 strikeouts in 20 innings of work. Mahoney hurled a two-hitter, fanning five in a 5-1 triumph over Delaware Valley while she also tossed a six-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over Richard Stockton.
Mahoney's third victory was a 8-1 win over Lasell and at the plate she belted a three-run homer in a 9-1 triumph over Curry.
Last season Mahoney helped stalwart the pitching staff for the Lancers as she recorded a 14-11 record with 130 punchouts in 161 innings. 19 of Mahoney's 21 starts were complete games as she blanked six opponents and combined on two others.
Worcester State kick-off its Northern schedule this weekend at Elms in a twinbill starting at 12 PM.
