Worcester, MA --- Worcester State University is proud to host the semifinal and championship rounds of the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Championship at the Rockwood Park.
#2 MCLA defeated fourth-seeded Salem State, 6-0, in the MASCAC Tournament Championship game to claim their first-ever crown. The Trailblazers won their quarterfinal matchup, 4-3, in 15 innings and outlasted #1 Worcester State, 8-4, in the winners bracket of the MASCAC semifinals.
After falling to the Lancers in the quaterfinals, 8-7, in 10 innings, the Vikings came out of the losers bracket by winning both of their contests yesterday to advance to today's final.
Junior Rachel Quackenbush (Hoosick Falls, NY), who blasted a two-run homer in their victory over MCLA, claimed MASCAC Tournament MVP accolades. Quackenbush (3-0) fanned 29 over 28.1 innings without permitting an earned run while holding opponents to a .153 batting average and she did not allow an extra base-knock.
