WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s seniors Sydney Despres (Sterling, Mass.) and Dakota Smith-Porter (Montague, Mass.) have been named to the 2018 NFCA Division III All-Region softball team, as announced by the organization Wednesday (May 16) afternoon.

WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State’s Sydney Despres and Dakota Smith-Porter have been named the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, and head up the all-conference squad which was voted on by the coaches from around the conference.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University softball team was eliminated from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tournament on Saturday (May 5) as they were upset and shutout by the second seeded Framingham State Rams in the first game of the day, and edged by Westfield State in the final game of the day.

WORCESTER, Mass. – Despite an attempted comeback in the top of the seventh inning by Bridgewater State, the No. 1 seeded Worcester State University softball team edged the No. 4 seeded Bears by a score of 6-5 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) quarterfinal game Thursday evening.

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Worcester State University’s softball head coach Michelle Cote picked up her 100th career win as the Lancers defeated the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime by scores of 15-0 and 10-2 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season finale. With the sweep, Worcester State earns the MASCAC Regular Season Title and will earn the No. 1 seed in the post-season tournament which will begin next week.

Softball Registers Third Consecutive Sweep at Salem State

SALEM, Mass. – Worcester State swept Salem State 8-3 and 15-3 (5 innings) in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader Sunday afternoon. Dakota Smith-Porter (Montague, Mass.) pitched a complete game, scattering four hits while allowing just two runs in a game one victory. Kaiulani Ennis (Swansea, Mass.) went 3-for-4 in game two, including a grand slam and five RBI as the Lancers ran away with a 15-3, five-inning victory.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University softball team picked up their second Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) sweep on Saturday, as they shutout the visiting MCLA Trailblazers 6-0 in the opening game, and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in game two to win 8-4 and complete the sweep.
