Fitchburg State: 2
Game 2- 6 Innings
Worcester State: 9
Fitchburg State: 0
How it Happened:
A sacrifice fly from senior Abigail Koziol (Lunenburg, MA) would send across fellow senior Emma Lanpher (Charlton, MA) for the first run and RBI of the game as Koziol works her way towards 100 RBIs, to take the lead. The Falcons would tie it up at the bottom of the inning but Worcester would make quick work of building their lead in the following innings.
In the second a Lanpher 2 RBI double would close down on her quest for 100 with number 90 scoring junior Camden Heenan (Webster, MA) and sophomore Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA). Junior Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) would send in Lanpher to grab three. Three further would be added in the third as sophomore Taylor Coonan (Grafton, MA) would double and come home off a miffed throw on Brouillard's hit. Lanpher would grab career RBI number 91 at her next at bat to bring Brouillard home with a Lapoint double bringing in Lanpher for the 7-1 lead.
The top of the fifth would see a rarity as Brouillard would record a two RBI in the park home run that would send in first year Laurel Field (Holden, MA) who had doubled the at bat before for a 9-1 lead that the Lancers would look to hold in the bottom for the shortened game. The Falcons held off that outcome with a single run in the bottom of the inning for a 9-2 lead into the sixth.
Worcester would reclaim their vision off a Brouillard single that would send across juniors Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA) and Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, MA) for an 11-2 lead which would hold through the bottom for the 11-2 six inning victory.
Senior Sarah Gosselin (Charlton, MA) would come away with the complete game victory for game one.
Worcester would be a bit slower scoring in game two with it taking until the third for the first runs to get on the board. Lanpher would double to center field for Lapoint to send home while Gasbarro would send a grounder to the pitcher forcing the play at first as Koziol would race home for run number two. The fourth would see an additional RBI for Lanpher and run for Worcester as she was walked to bring home Junior Carisa Andrew's (Medfield, MA) for a 3-0 score. A fourth run would come in the fifth off an Adamuska single to center field that would be followed by an error providing time for Gasbarro to cross for 4-0.
The top of six would find Brouillard record her second inside the park home run of the day, this time just a single RBI for a 5-0 Lancer lead. The Lancers would not let up as Lapoint would double into left field to be brought home by junior Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA)'s own double. Koziol would snag a base off an error that would be sent home with Keefe off a Gasbarro double. Andrew's would then send a zipper up the middle to bring Gasbarro in for the 9-0 Worcester lead and again looking for an early exit to this game, which they completed at the bottom of the inning as sophomore Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, MA) would complete the full game allowing just a single hit for the second time in conference this season, and 12 strikeouts in the game.
What's Next:
