How it Happened:
There would not be much action in the first game of the doubleheader until the bottom of first, when junior Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA) got awarded a walk and was able to bring it home with a single from senior Abigail Koziol (Lunenburg, MA). Junior Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, MA) would also be awarded a walk and with a triple to right field by junior Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA), that would bring home two more runs to bring the score to 3-0. The bottom of second, junior Camden Heenan (Webster, MA) tripled to left field and scored from a double to center field made by sophomore Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA) who would also score a run. Gasbarro doubled to right field allowing junior Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) to score, putting the scoreboard at 6-0.
The third would be a scoreless inning for both teams, however in the bottom of fourth, Gasbarro would add a home run, bringing in two more runs on the board for Worcester State. The top of fifth would find Suffolk with the first two runs of the game with the sixth inning once again a scoreless inning for the Lancers and Rams. The top of Seventh, the Rams would look to attempt a comeback with a third run scored, however they would still fall short as the game came to an end with a victory for the Lancers at 8-3.
Worcester State would once more open up the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning of the second game of the day, a single from Koziol gave both Lapoint and Lanpher the room needed to score and would then bring herself home as well 3-0. The top of the second inning, the Rams would find their footing and get a run on the board. However, Worcester State would widen the gap to 3 again as a double to right field from Keefe sent Lanpher home 4-1.
Suffolk Rams would score 3 runs in the top of the third inning, bringing the score to a tie. Determined to take another win for the day, Lancers would bring home 3 quick runs, and with all three bases loaded, a walk award to Gasbarro would have Lapoint score, a single from Adamuska would send Keefe bringing the score to 9-4. With the bases still loaded, another walk would give the Lancers their 10th run of the game. A triple to right center from Brouillar would add another 3 runs on the board for Worcester State 13-4. Brouillard would complete a run around the bases, putting the Lancers at a 10 run lead.
The top of the fifth inning, a solo runner would bring the Suffolk Rams to their fifth run, however a double play and a strikeout would end the game giving the Lancers both victories for the doubleheader 14-5.
