Lancers Make Quick Work of Trailblazers to Advance to MASCAC Quarterfinals with 14th Straight Win
Worcester, MA- After closing out the regular season with 13 straight wins, the Lancers Softball team (23-12, 9-5) was focused on a bit of revenge over the MCLA Trailblazers (12-21, 5-8), who are on their own 10 game losing streak, who swept Worcester back at the start of April. MCLA won each game with a 6-5 score, needing nine innings in the first game to grab the win. This single game this evening was a winner take all battle with the victor advancing to take on Framingham State on Thursday at 4pm in the first double elimination action.

MCLA won each game with a 6-5 score, needing nine innings in the first game to grab the win. How it Happened:
For the top of the first and second inning, MCLA would be able to get a couple runners on the bases, however, Worcester State's defense would prevent any runs from getting on the board for the opposing team. The bottom of the first and second, Lancers would see a similar fate to MCLA, both teams would go into the third inning with no runs.
The top of the fourth, a trailblazer would be awarded a walk, however, MCLA would still be unable to put any runs on the board. The bottom of the fourth inning, Worcester State, despite their efforts, would also be unable to bring a run home. The top fifth inning would go by in a flash as Worcester State made quick work of the outs.
The bottom of the fifth inning, we would see the first run of the day scored by first year Laurel Field (Holden, MA), who came in as a pinch runner for junior Amanda Admauska (Dudley, MA) on second base. Senior Emma Lanpher (Charlton, MA) singled to left center bringing home sophomore Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA) and junior Carisa Andrews (Medford, MA). Junior Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) would be awarded a walk and with a single to right field from junior Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA), Lanpher would bring home another run for the lancers. Senior Abigail Koziol (Lunenburg, MA) singled to left center, bringing home Lapoint. With bases loaded, junior Camden Heenan (Webster, MA) would single to right field allowing Keefe to score. Andrews singled to first base, giving junior Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, MA) and Koziol to score, bringing the game to a quick end with game play lasting just under an hour.
What's Next:
With the win the Lancers will move onto action tomorrow at Framingham State as they continue their hunt for a MASCAC Championship.
