Worcester, MA- Game two of the opening day in Clermont for Worcester State Softball (1-0, 0-0) found the Lancers facing up with northeast foe Smith College.
Final
Worcester State: 2
Smith: 18
How it Happened:
Worcester would keep the first game magic alive in the first as senior Bailey Tammaro (Fitchburg, MA) would capitalize on the passed balls of the first inning to work herself to third and eventually cross home for the opening action of the game. Worcester would remain shutout in the second while SMith found some magic jumping to a two run lead by the close of the second. The third would add an additional six runs for the Bears. Worcester would work to cut into the lead in the fourth but find minimal success as Smith tacked on an additional nine in the bottom.
The fifth inning Worcester would come alive again as senior Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA) would drill a single to left field that was mismanaged resulting in Adamuska with a foot on third. First year Mackenzie Roy (Fitchburg, MA) would record the walk but in the final pitch of the count, a passed ball, the play of the game, would bring Adamuska home to close out the scoring on the day.
What's Next:
Worcester State (1-1, 0-0) jumps back into early action tomorrow with a meeting at 9am with Macalester and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
