WORCESTER, Mass. - A pair of Worcester State University women's basketball student-athletes received weekly recognition on Tuesday morning.
Junior Gigi LeMay (Grafton, Mass.) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association Weekly Honor Roll after a breakout week for the Lancers, leading her team to pair of wins off the bench. LeMay opened the week with a career-high 26 points in a win over Saint Joseph's (Me.), which included eight rebounds and four steals, before scoring 11 points with eight boards, four assists, and four steals in a win over Anna Maria on Thursday.
Freshman Erin Gallella (Tewksbury, Mass.) averaged 8.5 points per game over a pair of contests for Worcester State to be named the Worcester Area College Basketball Association Women's Rookie of the Week. In a win over Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Tuesday, Gallella recorded eight points with five assists and two rebounds, before scoring nine points with two rebounds and an assist in a victory over Anna Maria on Thursday.
LeMay, Gallella, and the women's basketball team will open conference play on Tuesday evening, hosting Westfield State at John P. Brissette Court.
