How it Happened:
While the Trailblazers may have started the scoring in the afternoon matchup for the first lead of the game, Worcester deftly took control of the action recording 12 unanswered points led in large part by junior Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA). Teammate, junior Mia Haynes (Worcester, MA) would provide her own contributions in the quarter to help extend Worcester's control as the opening 10 minutes found Worcester leading 25-8.
The success would continue into the second quarter as Worcester closed out the half of action going 52.9% from field goal range and 41.7% from behind the arc. Sophomore Emma Quinn (Wakefield, MA) had a strong showing in the quarter, recording eight points to help carry the Lancers to the 44-18 break score.
The Lancers attack would take a more steady rate in the third quarter as they shifted focus to team dynamics and defensive play. Worcester recorded nearly 20 rebounds, both offensively and defensively during the stretch while holding the Trailblazers to just 10 points for a 58-28 score moving into the final quarter of regulation.
This team focused tactic would carry to the final horn for Worcester as they recorded 60 rebounds on 29 of 75 shooting from field goal range. Worcester would claim the 73-43 victory behind the strong performance of Quinn with 15 points and Waldron with 10 rebounds and 14 points for a double-double day.
