Play4Kay is the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative ways of fighting ALL cancers affecting women and providing support through giving strength, courage, and hope.
Battling stage IV cancer, Hall of Fame coach, Kay Yow, gave her final and lasting gift — the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. In the 16 years since its inception, the Fund has served as a catalyst, uniting communities in the fight against cancer.
The Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund, created by Gregg '86 and Pam '87 Rosen, aims to provide a robust curriculum that supports peer to peer education regarding early cancer detection. Raising awareness in our young people, particularly Worcester State students in the field of public health, can effectively expedite these important educational initiatives to curb the prevalence of late-stage cancer and increase longevity.

How it Happened:
The Lancers opened a late season matchup against their local rival the Rams. Things got off to a solid start as they jumped out to a 6-3 lead on the back of two consecutive shots by junior Aydan Gulliver (Cranston, RI) and junior Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA). The Lancers kept their momentum going as they traded shots with the Rams. Capped off by a jump shot by Gulliver, the Lancers ended the first quarter up 14-10.
The second quarter would not be as friendly to the Lancers defense, as the Rams would string together 15 consecutive points, to finally be broken up by a layup from senior Hannah Lomonaco (Northbridge, MA). The Lancers would be stalled by the fierce Framingham defense, as they'd only score a few more heading into halftime trailing 31-22.
Coming out of halftime, the Lancers looked to find some of that first quarter momentum again. Although first year Derin Tokcan (Istanbul, TR) got the crowd back into the game after an electric three-pointer, the Lancer defense would continue to have some gaps in the court as the Rams offense continued to pour it on. The Lancers were able to throw some points into the board but the Rams continued to rapidly expand their lead.
The fourth quarter would show much of the same. Tokcan swished another three-pointer, adding to her total, but the Rams persisted. The Rams would continue to hold strong possession of the ball for the remainder of the quarter, finishing off a convincing 71-53 victory.
Lomonaco would lead the Lancer charge with 15 points while junior Mia Haynes (Worcester, MA) was a rebounding power with 10 rebounds.
What's Next:
The Lancers (9-13, 6-5) are back in action on Valentine's Day when they host the Vikings on Brissette Court at 12pm.
