Lancers Battle Seahawks in Veteran’s Day Battle

Worcester, MA- In a Veteran's Day late night meeting, the Worcester State Women's Ice Hockey team (2-1, 1-0) travel to Middletown, RI to square up with the Seahawks in the non-conference battle.

How it Happened:

In the meeting between the Seahawks and the Lancers it was just 35 seconds before Worcester found themselves down an early goal. They would not allow the quick start to unsettle the skating any further on the ice, locking down their defense and forcing away the 22 first period attempts from Salve until the final second of the period when the Seahawks would slip in their second goal. 

The second period would see a lockdown defense from the Lancers, who cut down the Seahawk scoring opportunities and held them scoreless in the period while working to find their own offensive chances. While Worcester managed a few good looks at the zone, they were unable to put together a score in the action.

The wear and tear of the game, and the settling of the second intermission caught up to Worcester in third as Salve came out with heated skates for two early goals. The Lancers would fight to get in on a piece of the scoring action but were unable to find the needed connection, falling 4-0 to the Seahawks.

Sophomore Maverick Margraf (Charla, MN) would wrap up the meeting with 35 saves.

Worcester State (2-2, 1-0) returns to action on Friday in a return to conference play as they host Anna Maria at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
