Final
Worcester State: 4
Framingham State: 1
How It Happened:
In a repeat of their matchup just a few weeks ago, Worcester and Framingham would keep it close in the first period. The Lancers would claim the first power play opportunity just four minutes into the game, but would be unable to convert the opportunity to an early goal. Rather it would be just over halfway through the first when Worcester's first year Lindsay Wagner (Waterbury, VT) would come off a power kill to open up the action from a pass from junior Caroline Melanson (Wakefield, MA). The Rams would not take long to return the score tying the game at 1-1. With just under two minutes to go junior Madelyn Franta (Superior, WI) would send in the rebounded collection pass from sophomore Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) to reclaim the lead before the first intermission.
The second would slow things down for both teams but, again, with just over a minute to play, the Blue and Gold's junior Kaia Carlson (Denver, CO) would sneak the shot past the Rams keeper after Wagner collected her rebound and dished it to first year Princess Delano (Mountainside, NJ) for the 3-1 lead into the second break.
The final period of regulation would find Worcester tack on a fourth goal nearly eight minutes in as Johns would add to her assist with a goal from Franta and junior Olivia Fehl (Sergeant Bluffs, IA) collection of a Delano shot that was knocked away. The remainder of the period would see each team hold their line as Worcester pushed on for the 4-1 win to remain undefeated on conference play.
Sophomore Maverick Margraf (Chaska, MN) collected 29 saves in the victory on the night.
What's Next:
The Blue and Gold (5-2, 4-0) will return to home ice on Saturday for a 4:20pm meeting with new conference addition Salem State.
