Final
Worcester State: 5
MCLA: 1
How it Happened:
It would be another quick start for the Lancers as they found the back of the next six and half minutes into the game as junior Fiona Hatton (Homer, AK) would meet with success. Each team would have their chance on the power kill to add additional scores to the board but defense was the art form of the rest of the period as Worcester prevented the Trailblazers from recording an attempt while recording 23 attempts in the opening action.
In a similar script to last night MCLA would get on the board in the second, but Worcester answered back quickly with senior Cailey Ryan (Acton, MA) collecting a junior Olivia Fehl (Sergeant Bluff, IA) pass for goal number two. A few minutes later Ryan would record a second, this time junior AJ Villandry (Westfield, MA) would provide the assist. The remainder of the game would find each team fighting for additional scores, with Worcester still holding the significant shot advantage at 52-6.
Sophomore Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) would add to the success in the third off a first year Lindsay Wagner (Waterbury, VT) pass, to continue the Worcester success. A fifth goal would be added to the tally by sophomore Emily Curran (Fall River, MA) with the add on support by senior Lea Gaspar (Chelmsford, MA) for the 5-1 lead. Sophomore goalie Maverick Margraf (Chaska, MN) had a great output, with 15 and 0.93% save percentage, allowing only 1 one goal on the night.
With the win Head Coach Eliza Kelley secured her 100th career NCAA coaching win.
