How it Happened:
The Lancers started off the game hot and kept the momentum going strong through the first. It would take them nearly three quarters of the period though to find their opening goal. First year Lindsay Wagner (Waterbury, VT) finally managed to get Worcester on the board with a quick goal, scoring off a dish from sophomore Leyla Tiernan (Anchorage, AK). The offense was silent for the final minutes as both teams dominated defensively.
In the second Worcester struck again as junior Fiona Hatton (Homer, AK) increased the Lancers lead to two. The Blue and Gold struck again with another goal from Tiernan, this time with the assistance of junior Olivia Fehl (Sergeant Bluff, IA) giving Worcester the significant lead of 3-0.
Worcester will go into the 3rd period with a 3-0 lead, hoping to take home the conference win. Sophomore Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) would get a feed from Hatton about halfway through the third period to extend Worcester's lead to four as the Lancers took a dominant control of the game and action.Worcester would outshoot the Rams at a 59 to 14 advantage for the win.
What's Next:
The Lancers (12-8, 9-1) jump right back into action on Saturday at 7:20pm when they head to Rivier for a battle for top spot in the conference.
