Women's Lacrosse Loses To Roger Williams In ECAC Playoffs, 17-2
Bristol, RI --- The Roger Williams University women’s lacrosse team (14-4) defeated visiting Worcester State College (9-6), 17-2, Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Freshman Claire Halliday tallied an RWU record 11 points in the contest with six goals and five assists.

Bristol, R.I.- The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team (14-4) defeated visiting Worcester State College (9-6), 17-2, Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Women's Lacrosse Championship. Freshman Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) tallied an RWU record 11 points in the contest with six goals and five assists.
Halliday contributed two goals and three assists on the Hawks' first five goals, helping RWU to the 5-1 lead with 11:02 remaining in the first half. She would add another goal, sandwiched between two by RWU sophomore Natasha Billie (Point Pleasant, N.J.), before Worcester State freshman Angela Johnson (Ashby, MA) stopped the Hawks' seven-goal scoring streak with 1:47 remaining in the half.
Another Halliday tally with 10 seconds on the clock sent the teams to halftime with the score 9-2.
The second half was all RWU, as the team recorded eight goals while allowing none. Hawks sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.) registered two saves in the second half and four total to secure her 14th win of the season.
Lancers goalkeeper Lyndsey Nunes (Westfield, MA) made 14 saves and allowed 14 goals in 54:53 of play.
The win maintains the Hawks' undefeated home record this season, as the team now posts a perfect 7-0 record in Bristol, R.I. The last home loss for RWU dates back to April 21, 2007 in an 11-10 double-overtime game against Gordon College.
RWU moves on to compete in the ECAC Semifinals against fellow The Commonwealth Coast Conference member, Western New England College. RWU boasts a 2-0 record this season against the Golden Bears, most recently winning, 10-7, in the TCCC semifinals.
The semifinals are hosted by top-seed Bridgewater State College, which faces fourth-seed Keene State, Saturday at Noon. The Hawks face the Golden Bears following that contest with their first draw scheduled for 3 p.m.
