Fisher Named MASCAC Woman of the Year
Westfield, MA- Following an excellent career for Worcester State, Mckayla Fisher has been voted as the MASCAC Woman of the Year which is selected by the Athletic Directors around the conference.
Following an excellent career for Worcester State, Mckayla Fisher has been voted as the MASCAC Woman of the Year which is selected by the Athletic Directors around the conference.
Although the NCAA discontinued the Woman of the Year program, the MASCAC still wanted to recognize a worthy student-athlete who showed the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership that is the cornerstone of Division III.
Closing out her education in May, Fisher graduated with a nursing degree and 3.529 grade point average, earning Cum Laude Honors at graduation along with Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
Her success was not limited to the classroom, competing as part of the back-to-back MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Regular Season and Tournament Champions in 2025 and 2026. She was named the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year and was a four-time All-Conference honoree. The 2026 season saw Fisher achieve several on-field milestones, including 100 career goals, 200 career points, 100 caused turnovers, 200 ground balls and 300 draw controls. She earned Worcester State Outstanding Senior Athlete in 2026 and was the Lancers' Rookie of the Year in 2022.
Community service is an integral piece of the Division III experience and Fisher was no stranger to involvement with several causes, including the Student Support Network (SSN) a student-led mental health program that teaches students how to support their peers and connect them with appropriate resources when needed. She also participated in One Love Foundation workshops to learn about relationship abuse and how to recognize warning signs of unhealthy relationships. She also attended monthly Morgan's Message meetings focused on mental health awareness in athletics. Fisher volunteered with Working for Worcester, where she cleaned local schools, repainted school grounds, and helped build a playground and visited Cologny Retirement Home to spend time with residents, play bingo, and deliver Valentine's Day cards.
