WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman Asgerdur Jana Agustsdottir (Akureyi, Iceland) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MSACAC) women's indoor track & field rookie of the week, as announced by the league Monday (Feb. 5) afternoon.

This past weekend at the Wesleyan Invitational, Agustsdottir earned top honors in the high jump with a height of 1.59m/5-02.50. She also had personal records in the long jump (5.21m/17-01.25) for third place and shot put (12.09m.39-08.00) for fourth place.

"Jana really took it to a new level this week," commented head coach Andrea Ouellette.  "Coming off a good multi the weekend before, she was due for some more PRs."

The women's track & field team travels to Providence this upcoming weekend to take part in the MASCAC/Alliance Championships, hosted by Rhode Island College at Providence Tech High School.

"I am very happy to see things coming together for her heading into championships," concluded Ouellette.
