Worcester State Volleyball Ranks Third in Preseason Poll

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Volleyball Team finished ranked in the top three in the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Monday by the league.

The Lancers, who fell in the MASCAC Championship to Framingham State, look to return the conference finals this year. Worcester finished third in the preseason ranking with one first place vote and 40 points, sitting behind defending champions Framingham with three first place votes and 44 points and Westfield State who recorded three first place votes and 42 points. Reigning MASCAC Regular Season Champions, the Lancers were a perfect 7-0 in league play last season. Back for her second season with the team is Angela Colonis who averaged 1.46 kills per set and was fifth in the MASCAC with 368 total assists whole collecting 243 digs and 26 service aces on her way to All-Conference accolades. These three teams, along with MCLA, who finished fifth in the preseason poll with 28 points, rounded out the top four teams at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

Worcester State will start their season on September 2 versus Colby-Sawyer at the Brandeis Invitational. The first serve is currently scheduled for 5pm.
