Final
Worcester State: 3
Anna Maria: 0
How it Happened:
Worcester State came out strong early and kept their foot on the pedal through the first set claiming a 25-8 first set by victory. The opening set would be highlighted by 10 kills for the Lancers and a strong opening service from senior Cassie Millea (Orange, CT) and some strong triple service aces by sophomore Katherine Crateau (North Andover, MA) to push the lead to double digits. Cartier would nearly serve out the set taking the team from 13-7 to 24-7 before an AMCATs attacking error would provide the win.
The dominance would continue into the 25-11 second set win, this time with 12 kills recorded by Worcester. First year Maggie Luke would get the action started jumping Owecester out to a 4-0 lead and a full team effort throughout the set would piece together the point for Worcester.
Anna Maria would look to change the ties in the third set grabbing the first point and matching Worcester score for score. Worcester would begin to build up their third set lead grabbing double the points to Anna Maria with a kill from sophomore Beatrice Gambia-Estrella (Simi Valley, CA) setting Worcester up at 20-11. Ann's Maria would attempt a late surge to stave off the loss as the two teams traded points but a service error on the AMCATs would seal the victory for Worcester State.
Gamboa-Estella would lead Worcester with 12 kills and 10 digs while Crateau would end the night with 12 digs. Senior Paige Thomason (Hudson, MA) would take the point lead with 10.5 points.
