WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University field hockey team scored three goals in the second half to push past the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs in a Little East Conference (LEC) matchup Tuesday evening. With the win, the Lancers extend their winning streak to five and remain undefeated in the conference.

1^ST HALF
UMass Dartmouth's Delaney Burns (Wayne, N.J.) scored the first goal of the evening in the 6^th minute on a penalty corner taken by Haley Donahay (Cranston, R.I.), and assisted by Erin Kish (Littleton, Mass.). UMass Dartmouth only found the goal on net twice more in the first stanza, but Worcester State's senior goaltender, Kathryn Salemme (Boxborough, Mass.) stopped both, resulting in a 1-0 score heading into the second half. The Lancers fired off six shots in the first, but only one was one goal and was saved by the Corsairs' netminder, Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.).

2^ND HALF
Just 5:15 into the second half, Worcester State knotted the score at 1-1 as junior Jess Wilding (Somerset, Mass.) gave the Lancers life, finding the back of the net off an arc pass across the goal from Sophia Monopoli (Worcester, Mass.). Worcester State took the game in their hands in the 48^th minute when Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) scored a top-shelf goal succeeding a goalie deflection. Sophomore Katelyn Santos (Acushnet, Mass.) sealed the deal with an insurance goal late in the game, as she tallied a goal off a deflection following a breakaway shot from Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.).

BY THE BOOK

Worcester State's Antonelli and Parent led with three shots apiece, while Jolane Thibualt (Douglas, Mass.) registered two for the Blue and Gold.
Kish led UMass Dartmouth with three shots followed by Burns with two - both on net.
Salemme earned the win in net for the Lancers, making three saves on the night.
Burke took the loss in net for the Corsairs as she made four stops in the 70-minute performance.
Worcester State held the advantage in shots (12-6) and penalty corners (12-8).
Worcester State extends its winning streak to five, and snaps UMass Dartmouth's four-game streak they had going.
The Lancers remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0.

Worcester State returns to action on Friday (Sep. 29) when they host Eastern Connecticut in another LEC game, while the Corsairs resume play on Saturday (Sep. 30) when they travel to Southern Maine for a LEC contest.
