Wing Leads Lancer's Men's Cross Country to Second at Jim Sheehan Invite
Worcester, MA – The Worcester State men’s cross country team opened its season with a short trip north to Fitchburg State for the annual Jim Sheehan Invite. The Lancers were led by first-year Ryan Wing (Barre, MA), who placed seventh overall and sixth in team scoring in the tri-meet against Fitchburg State and Curry.

Wing covered the 5,000-meter course in 17:49.57, helping the Lancers to a runner-up team finish with 42 points, just behind the Curry Colonels. First-year Andrew Feinblatt (Framingham, MA) followed in eighth at 18:02.90, while graduate student Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) took ninth in 18:15.91. Junior Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) finished in 18:25.33, with sophomore Dan Smith (Medway, MA) rounding out Worcester's top five at 18:41.34.
The remainder of the squad stayed close behind, led by Liam Dietz and sophomore Taku Pettengill (Shirley, MA), who both broke the 19-minute barrier.
The Lancers return to action in two weeks at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.
