Lancers Men Cross Country Claim 5th at MASCAC Championship
Worcester, MA- In the culmination of a hard raced Cross Country season the Worcester State Men’s Cross Country team claimed 5th at the 2025 MASCAC Championship. The Lancers were led by first year Ryan Wing as they totaled 115 points.
Worcester, MA- In the culmination of a hard raced Cross Country season the Worcester State Men's Cross Country team claimed 5th at the 2025 MASCAC Championship. The Lancers were led by first year Ryan Wing as they totaled 115 points.
First year Ryan Wing (Barre, MA) led the charge for Worcester, claiming a top 15 finish with a strong 13th-place finish in 27:59.24, setting the tone early for the Lancers. Liam Dietz followed as Worcester's second runner, crossing in 29:03.73 for 23rd, a strong top 25 finish.
The heart of Worcester's scoring came from the tight trio pacing themselves through the middle of the race. Junior Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) crossed in 29th in a time 29:51.86 as sophomore Dan Smith (Medway, MA) finished in 31st in a marked time of 29:57.79, and sophomore Taku Pettengill (Shirley, MA) in 33rd at 30:12.56, who all finished within 21 seconds of one another to secure the remaining scoring spots and lock in the top-five finish for Worcester.
Worcester's endurance depth was also on display, with graduate student Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) coming across 34th at 30:24.16 and first year Youness Chahid (Revere, MA) in 40th with a time of 30:59.58.
With a spread of just over two minutes between the top five, Worcester showcased impressive pack cohesion as they shift focus to the regional postseason.
Worcester State is back in action in two weeks when they race at the DIII New England Regionals for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championship.
