Providence, RI --- Nationally-ranked Coast Guard defeated Worcester State 4-1 in an elimination game of the losers bracket this afternoon. Freshman Carolyn Hassett plated the lone run for WSU with an RBI single for one of the Lancers two base-knocks.
Starksville, MO --- Senior Michaella Mahoney has been named to the First-Team of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England team. The squad was announced on Wednesday, May 11. Mahoney was instrumental in helping the Lancers capture the 2011 MASCAC Softball Championship and a bid to the Division III Softball Tournament.
Providence, RI --- Worcester State defeated Husson, 10-2, in six innings to earn their first-ever NCAA Tournament win this afternoon. The Lancers were led by junior Ashley Howe who went 3-for-4 with a run scored, three RBIs and a pair of doubles. They will take on the nationally ranked Coast Guard tomorrow at 12 PM.
Providence, RI --- Fifth-seeded Worcester State was defeated, 4-1, this afternoon by #4 Rhode Island College in the opening round of the double-elimination NCAA Division III Softball Tournament New England regionals, hosted by RIC. Junior Erica Cordio paced the effort for WSU going 2-for-3 in the setback.

Mahoney also has been named to the All-MASCAC first team while juniors Lauren Besozzi, Erica Cordio and Ashley Howe and sophomore Kylene Pease all were selected to the second-team.

Paxton, MA --- Sophomore Aimee Lamoureux went six-for-seven with five runs scored and six RBIs to help lead Worcester State to a pair of victories over local rival Anna Maria this afternoon. The visiting Lancers won the first game 21-0 in five innings before they completed the sweep with an 8-3 triumph.
Fitchburg, MA --- Junior Lauren Besozzi went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs the opener while sophomore Hannah Everson hurled a three-hit shutout in the nightcap as they both helped Worcester State to 5-1 and 2-0 triumphs this afternoon in MASCAC softball action.
Bridgewater, MA --- Behind a pair of solid pitching performances by senior Michaella Mahoney and sophomore Hannah Everson, Worcester State defeated Bridgewater State twice in MASCAC softball action this afternoon. Senior Erica Cordio was also 3-for-5 in the second game with two RBIs.
