Katie was born in Framingham, Mass... is majoring in health education at Worcester State... the daughter of Deb and Juha Puumala... has three siblings, Aleks, Erika and Jaclyn... favorite spot on campus: the Wellness Center... chose Worcester State because of the great opportunity to further her education and hockey career.
Before Worcester State:
Katie is a 2019 graduate of The Winchendon School in Winchendon, Mass... where she played varsity soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse.... transferred to Worcester State after two years at Becker College... tallied 17 goals and 22 assists in for 39 points in 38 games for the Hawks... was named the Colonial Hockey Conference Rookie of the Year and to the CHC All-Rookie Team in 2019-20.

It was a rubber game, as the two squads split their season series a game a piece. It was a revenge game for the Amcats who looked to redeem their loss in last year’s ECHL final. It was a revenge game for the Lancers, who lost their first conference game in program history to the Amcats less than a month ago. The stage was set for an epic championship battle. Worcester, MA - The Lancers returned home Friday evening to take on the UMass-Boston Beacons at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. Worcester’s game-tying goal with 38 seconds to go in regulation kept their hopes alive, but ultimately was not enough against the Beacons in overtime.
