How it Happened:
The opening period of action would see a back and forth game between the Lancers and Camels. Each team would have their chances, with Worcester nabbing the first power play chance, but were held off the board. About halfway through the period, Connecticut would find an opening for a lifter in the cage to take the 1-0 lead that would hold into the first intermission.
The second period would have the same intensity of the first with Worcester again claiming the edge in power plays in the outing. With near chances on both ends of the ice, it was a tightly contested battle, with each shot attempt hard won. The Camels would manage to pop in two further goals to extend their lead to 3-0 while the Lancers word just kept out with their 20 attempts in the period.
Worcester would go on the attack early in the third as they looked to grab an early goal and begin to work their way back into the action. Senior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) would make some reaction saves as the Camels changed their approach in a bid to settle Worcester. Sophomore Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) was a stalwart on defense while senior Cailey Ryan (Acton, MA) and junior Fiona Hatton (Homer, AK) were charging across the ice looking for their magic moment. Worcester would put in the hustle into the final horn, but the Camels would bend but not concede to Worcester as they fell 3-0.
Czerniawski would claim 35 saves in the action.
What's Next:
After the holiday break, the Blue and Gold (5-5, 4-1) journey north to compete in the Bagley Invitational at Castleton State where they will face off versus SUNY Potsdam.
