Worcester Claims Sixth at Western New England Golden Bear Invitational

Worcester, MA- In their final meet before the MASCAC Championship in two weeks, the Worcester State Women's Cross Country team faced off on one last meet with a trip to Western New England for their invitational.
The Worcester State women's cross country team turned in a strong team effort on Saturday, finishing sixth overall with 176 points in a deep field of competition. The Lancers once again showed consistency across their lineup, with multiple runners posting impressive times.
Leading the way for Worcester was senior Leah Berg (Worcester, MA), who clocked in at 25:11.70 to place 27th overall. Right behind her was sophomore Samantha Edwards (East Longmeadow, MA) in 30th with a time of 25:18.13, followed closely by first year Anna Serafini (Leominster, MA), who crossed the line in 25:23.35 to take 36th.
The Lancers' scoring was rounded out by senior Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) in 46th in a time of 25:57.18 and senior Kelsey Gendreau (Seekonk, MA) in 50th at 26:10.75, giving Worcester five runners in the top 50 at the meet, a mark of their growing depth and team balance.
Additional strong performances came from first years Caydence Carr (Upton, MA) who finished in 55th with a 26:20.09 and Janine Betcher (Fontane, CA) in 62nd at 26:47.69, while seniors Aubrey Tunnera (Marlborough, MA), Jillian McMenemy (Westborough, MA), Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA), and first year Lauren Flanagan (Milford, MA) all turned in solid supporting finishes to help Worcester secure its top-six standing.
The Lancers continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, showing both experience and promise as they gear up for conference championship competition.
Worcester State wraps up their conference season in two weeks when they head back out west for the MASCAC Championship hosted by Westfield State on November 1st.
