Lancers Women's Cross Country Claim Third at MASCAC Championship
Worcester, MA- In the culmination of a hard raced Cross Country season the Worcester State Women’s Cross Country team claimed 3rd at the 2025 MASCAC Championship. The Lancers were led by senior Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) as they totaled 81 points on the course and all seven top finishers in the top 25.

Berg continued her season dominance with a 14th place finish with a time of 20:29.64 and set the pace for the team's pack running strategy. Close behind was first year Anna Serafini (Leominster, MA), crossing in 16th in a time of 20:37.90, followed by sophomore Samantha Edwards (East Longmeadow, MA) for 18th in 20:50.46. The trio's tight grouping helped establish early momentum that carried through the rest of the race.
Rounding out Worcester's scoring five were senior Kelsey Gendreau (Seekonk, MA) in 22nd at 21:17.15 and first-year standout Caydence Carr (Upton, MA), just a second behind in 23rd in a brisk 21:18.13. Senior Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) would claim the sixth Lancer running spot at 25th overall in 21:27.91 with first year Janine Betcher (Fontana, CA) right behind at 26th,and just a few seconds behind O'Malley and Carr at 21:31.40.
The depth continued with strong showings from first year Tamara Ayala-Garcia (Lawrence, MA) in 30th at 22:21.82, senior Jillian McMenemy (Westborough, MA) in 34th at 22:38.89, and senior Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA) in 40th at 23:16.63. Senior Aubrey Tunera (Marlborough, MA) would claim 43rd at 23:34.77 with first year Lauren Flanagan (Milford, MA) wrapping it up at 46th with a time of 23:47.3.
The third-place finish marks another step forward for the Lancers, who continue to establish themselves among the conference's top programs. Worcester State is back in action in two weeks when they race at the DIII New England Regionals for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championship.
