WESTFIELD, Mass. -- In a historic moment for the conference, Rivier’s Rebecca McKelvey and Worcester State’s Kelsey Czerniawski earn the first-ever MASCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the 2024-25 All-Conference team as voted on by the coaches from around the conference prior to the tournament.
Worcester, MA- In a flashback to the ECHA finals of last year the Worcester State Lancers hosted the Rivier Raiders this afternoon in the MASCAC Semifinals. So far this season the Lancers have claimed three wins on the Raiders, but not without some strong competition, with two of the three games going into overtime, and one being decided by shootout. This matchup looked to keep the same intensity of the last four meetings between these two programs as last year’s championship found the two teams meeting in overtime before Worcester State claimed the golden goal Championship victory.

Currently the Panthers have a slight points edge over the Lancers, but a win in regulation would provide Worcester the number one seed in the tournament that starts next Wednesday.
Worcester, MA- In a crucial post-season meeting Saturday night, the Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team (12-9-1, 9-3-1) will look to gain a more solid hold on their second seed standing as they journey north to Rivier, who currently is vying to steal the Lancer’s place atop the standings. The previous two meetings this season between the teams have been decided by a single goal, mirroring the ECHA Final meeting between the teams last year in the Championship that brought Worcester home its third straight Championship title.

Worcester, MA- Tonight’s Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey Game (9-9-1, 6-3-1) is being played in honor of sophomore Men’s Ice Hockey student-athlete Evan Armit, who was earlier this season diagnosed with Melanoma. Both programs have united around their support and raising awareness, and with the help of the Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund, designed Black Jersey’s to be worn during the game with donations and bids being accepted leading up to the game. Proceeds from tonight’s game will go to the Armit Family and the Rosen Fund, created by Gregg '86 and Pam '87 Rosen, which aims to provide a robust curriculum that supports peer to peer education regarding early cancer detection. Raising Awareness in our young people, particularly Worcester State students in the field of public health, can effectively expedite these important educational initiatives to curb the prevalence of late stage cancer and increase longevity.
